First and foremost, Black lives matter.
Before resuming our normal food content on Thursday, we wanted to stop in and make it clear where we stand and how we, as a platform and a business, plan to do better.
There are some issues that transcend all niches, and this is one of them.
The Amplify Melanated Voices Challenge
If you were following our Instagram last week, you already know we’ve been participating in the #AmplifyMelanatedVoices challenge hosted by @blackandemobodied and @jessicawilson.msrd.

This has been an immensely eye-opening, humbling, and necessary experience .
To our Black friends and readers: We want to apologize for failing to use this platform to speak up more effectively and consistently. We are listening. We are committed to doing better.
What We’re Changing
1. A New Blog Series
We have a lot of the normal recipe content coming at you in the next ten weeks, but starting today and every Tuesday for those ten weeks, we will be posting some resources and guides to help you diversify your feed.
- round-ups and profiles of our favorite Black vegan food bloggers, like this one on 4 Black vegan women who are changing the world
- reviews on cookbooks by Black vegan authors
- Black-owned vegan restaurant profiles and reviews
- spotlight pieces on Black-owned vegan products (like this piece on the Philly-based Vannah Banana ice cream!)
- And even WINE guides from Black-owned vineyards
If there’s a topic you’d like us to cover or a particular Black creator or business you think we should feature, please feel free to reach out and let us know!
We will donate 100% of the ad income made from these posts to Black Lives Matter. Our hope is to keep these posts up-to-date and continue to promote them. As our blog grows, so will our donation. This way, we can create an ongoing way to support causes that matter while also lifting the voices and platforms of Black creators in the vegan food space.
2. Live Cooking Show Fundraiser
We’re bringing back the live cooking show for 10 more episodes this summer! We’ll be going live in the kitchen Fridays at 3PM EDT on IG starting June 19.
The series will be free to follow along as usual, BUT if you want to cook along with us, we’ve put together an easy printable PDF for you with all the recipes in one place!
To get it, simply send a minimum $5 donation to Black Lives Matter or your local BLM chapter. Then, email us at [email protected] with a screenshot of your receipt (or send it via DM) and we’ll reply with your PDF.
