How to Make Vegetarian Ham Slices

Step 1: Add a can of beets to your blender.  Fill the can with water to the brim and add that to the blender too.

Blend until completely smooth and all the beet chunks are fully blended.

Step 2: Combine the dry ingredients and wet ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3: Mix with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until it mostly comes together. Do not overmix!

Step 4: Knead gently for no longer than 30 seconds. Don't go over 30 seconds or the vegetarian ham slices will have a tough texture.

Step 5: Form the vegetarian ham into a loaf shape and place on a large sheet of foil.

Step 6: Wrap the vegetarian ham gently in the foil and steam for 40 minutes.

Step 7: After steaming, place the vegetarian ham in a baking dish and slightly open the foil packet. Bake at 325F for 20 minutes.

Step 8: While the vegetarian ham bakes, mix all the ingredients for your glaze over low heat until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 9: Remove the vegetarian ham from the foil and pour half the glaze over it. Bake for another 30 minutes.

Pour the remainder of the glaze on after baking and let this vegetarian ham  cool 5-10 minutes before slicing to your desired thickness!
